CO₂ Emissions

CodeDay is a carbon-negative organization. We offset 120% of our estimated carbon emissions from the following:
  • Offices, computers, and servers.
  • Production of swag and awards.
  • Shipping.
  • Staff, volunteer, and participant travel.
  • Energy used by our events.
  • Food served at our events.
Our carbon emissions are offset by Climeworks and Carbfix, who use geothermal energy and waste heat to capture CO₂ from the air, concentrate it, and sequester it in underground basaltic rock.
